Byzantine
So...I am taking a leaf from my cousin's book (and co-opting her blog title) and have started my own blog to keep my family and friends updated on what I will be doing for the next year in high altitudes (more specifically, in Greeley, Colorado as an Americorps VISTA). I know my layout might seem a little intimidating right now, but don't let that discourage you. It's meant to correspond with my feelings about starting a blog, which are a bit dramatic. Virginia Woolf said something very specific about writers being self-conscious, and I'll second that here in defense of my own difficulty of putting anything into words. That being said, I know that I will have a lot to share in the coming year, and I hope that this will be able to serve as a forum for sharing it. Still, problematically, the last complete thing I wrote was my senior thesis, and I can't seem to get that style of writing out of my head...but I think (or hope) that I will eventually get the hang of this and be able to change my layout from "Greek tragedy" to something a little bit more accommodating...

Someone once said that when one has difficulty writing, the best solution is just to start writing. It will take off from there and your style will develop naturally.
